NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA MERCED. (MEMORIA)

A comienzos del siglo XIII, numerosos cristianos cayeron prisioneros de los sarracenos con peligro de perder su fe. La santísima Virgen María, apareciéndose a san Pedro Nolasco, a san Raimundo de Peñafort y al rey Jacobo de Aragón, les dijo que sería de sumo agrado suyo y de su Hijo la institución de una Orden religiosa en su honor con el fin de liberar a los caídos en poder de los infieles. Así, fundaron la Orden de los cautivos, los miembros de la cual se obligaron con voto a permanecer en poder de los infieles, si ello fuese necesario para la liberación de los cristianos.

NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA MERCED. (MEMORIA)
